Nanopassivation is an antioxidant treatment of aluminum that gives extended life and a shine that lasts. Through a chemical process, the metal is bonded with a chemical formula that becomes a protective layer, it appears as glass / clear lacquer similar but is much more durable. This surface treatment takes care of the free ions that otherwise form oxides. Treating an entire boat requires a lot of work and a completely dust-free environment. So we have chosen to add nanopassivation as an option.
UMS Boats is part of the small crowd of aluminum boat manufacturers that can offer nanopassivation.
With nanopassivation
As you can see in the top picture, a passivated surface is very repellent to water and dirt.
So the boat will be very easy to maintain if you want to keep it nice.
Without nanopassivation
This is what raw aluminum looks like, after launching it immediately becomes a little "whiter" as the surface oxidizes. It is not harmful, but the oxide then acts as the protective surface layer for the metal.
